LinkedIn Is Now an SEO Asset. Most People Don't Know It Yet.

Here’s something that would have sounded strange two years ago: publishing a long article on LinkedIn might do more for your AI search visibility than publishing one on your own blog.

We’ve analyzed LinkedIn with AI for citations and found that LinkedIn now earns nearly 1 in 8 social media citations across AI search platforms. Its share grew 50% in just five months. The trajectory is clear.

But the more interesting finding is what gets cited.

LinkedIn Pulse articles — the long-form pieces most people ignore — account for 72% of all LinkedIn citations, despite being outnumbered by posts. Short posts get written, liked, and forgotten. Long articles get cited by AI models months later.

Content from named individuals gets cited more than company pages. Individual authors earned more citations despite posting less content overall. This matters if you’ve been routing everything through your brand account.

And engagement? Irrelevant. Likes, comments, emojis, hashtags — none of them correlate with AI citations. Actually, they lean slightly negative. The signal AI looks for isn’t social proof. It’s reference value: is this the clearest available answer to a specific question?

That’s the key reframe. Most people write LinkedIn posts to get engagement. The ones showing up in AI answers wrote articles to be useful. They answered a specific question as completely as they could. They didn’t optimize for the algorithm. They just made something worth citing.

One more thing worth noting: different AI platforms behave differently with LinkedIn. Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite it heavily. Gemini barely cites it at all. Microsoft Copilot cites LinkedIn almost exclusively through Pulse articles. If you care about specific platforms, your content strategy should reflect that.

The practical upshot: LinkedIn is no longer just for professional networking or lead generation. It’s an AI citation source. Start publishing under individual names. Write long-form articles on the questions your buyers are asking AI. Be the clearest answer to a specific thing.

At beket.ai, we help businesses track whether their content — wherever it lives — is actually getting picked up by AI models. The answer is often surprising.
